"My name is Jerry Perez and I am a full time fishing Guide in the Florida Keys, Everglades National Park and the Louisiana Marsh.
I recently purchased a trolling motor for my Hell's Bay Skiff. They are the
finest shallow water skiffs in the world.
I had my doubts about how I would connect my trolling motor to the power of the 24 Volt system which typically are twist lock plugs that eventually fail due to corrosion which cause resistance and in turn creates heat causing poor contact and operation.
So when Paul recommended the Power Pux puck, I was blown away by the idea and simplicity of the product.
First thing that stood out to me was that there was no need to drill a hole aside from the mounting bracket which is permanently there on the deck or bulkhead.
Now with the Power Pux, the hole is covered by the mounting bracket and sealed with a marine sealant so if I decide not to use a trolling motor anymore, my high end skiff doesn’t have a hole exposed to the elements that’s no longer in use.
Second, there is no long power cable in the way of my clients as they fish.
Power Pux has a self contained cable that is part of the trolling motor bracket which is the biggest appeal of this type of connection being a Fly fishing Guide.
The Fly Line would always catch on the excess power cable which is frustrating to say the least.
Third, the ease of connection is as simple as mounting the trolling motor to the puck, one less step in the process of getting ready to go fish.
The connection itself is the best I’ve ever seen as it has minimal metal so the chance of corrosion is minimal, it’s mostly rubber and plastic.
The pins catch every single time without a problem and have never failed to have contact.
I fished the trolling motor hard purposely to test the connection, sometimes 6 plus hours of use in a single day and it has never had one hick up.
There has been no visible corrosion build up. All I've had to do is spray Anti corrosion spray once when we installed it and it is still going strong.
I believe this product will change fishing with trolling motors as we know it and I am glad that I’m apart of testing it to see what abuse it can take.
I still can’t find something wrong with this product. The old saying is true “Simplicity kills”.
I want to Thank and Congratulate Paul Payne for his hard work developing this product and for trusting me to put it through the paces of everyday use.
It just works which is what we are looking for as fisherman. "
